The UAE’s commitment to upholding basic human rights and freedoms is underpinned not only by a robust legislative framework, but also a firm set of values that have shaped societies on the Arabian Peninsula for millennia. Since its inception, the UAE has worked alongside partners around the world to align with modern international human rights standards, often leading global efforts in areas such as human trafficking and women empowerment. Over the last five decades, the government has continually implemented various reforms in social, economic, legislative, and regulatory spheres to build a tolerant, just, equal, and diverse country that is today home to 200 nationalities. These reports outline the UAE’s progress and leadership in various fields relating to human rights.
UAE efforts are also reflected in the ongoing engagement of the UAE government to undertake a gradual process of ratifying the core human rights instruments and to submit reports to the relevant UN human rights mechanisms, including the treaty bodies and the Universal periodic review, as the below reports show.
